Alicante Bike Hire was founded spring 2013 of Anne and Kjell Magne Storerud from Norway. We had a bike/sportshop in Norway since 1983 and wanted to do something else. We started in January 2014, so it is now soon 10 years ago.
In the beginning we had all type of bikes, but now it is only road bikes of good quality for renting.
We are based in Torrevieja, a town on Costa Blanca with 82.000 residents, 50 km south of Alicante centrum.
Torrevieja is well known for the beaches and the salt lakes. In August it is said that is 400.000 “residents” in Torrevieja. In the surrounding areas it is some hundred thousands holiday apartments and it is built several thousand every year.
We deliver the bikes mainly in Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Rojales/Quesada, Guardamar, San Fulgencio, Gran Alacant/Santa Pola , Torre/Pilar de la Horadada and San Pedro. This is the biggest municipalities in the area, but it is a lot of more small municipalities .And we have a wide delivery area. On a short biketrip of 50 km you can visit 10-15 small cities with their own local police and municipal administration.
The area is mainly flat on the Vega Baja area around the Segura River. But we have very good bike roads with some height up to 500 m. We can mention Pedrera, Rebate, Cabezo, Garruchal and Hondon within a trip for 100 km. We say here that with 100 km you can have 1000 height meters.
